Two children found a pair of guns lying on the street just a few blocks away from the scene of a fatal shooting Wednesday afternoon in Burnaby, B.C., CTV News has learned.

Police confirmed Wednesday night that there was a secondary crime scene nearby, but said it was unclear if it was linked to the shooting.

About 4:30 p.m., police responded to a parking lot behind a building in the 7700-block of Edmonds Street near Canada Way.

The building houses a dance studio and martial arts studio.

A man, who had been shot multiple times, was found slumped inside a black SUV. At least one of the vehicle's windows had been shot out.

The man was taken out of the vehicle, but paramedics were unable to revive him, police said.

Cpl. Dale Carr of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said it appears the shooting was not random.

As of 11 p.m. Wednesday, no arrests had been made.

A worker at a nearby motorcycle dealership told ctvbc.ca that he heard about six or seven shots.

A resident who lives in the area said he heard closer to 10 to 12 shots.

Carr said police are looking for two men seen fleeing the scene in a minivan.

He did not have a more detailed description of the suspects or the victim late Wednesday night.

Alicia Iglesias told CTV News her two nieces were walking home from school when they stumbled across two guns lying on the ground, a few blocks away from the shooting.

One of her nieces picked up one of the guns thinking it was a toy.

"She was going to give it to my nephew, then the sister said, 'Don't pick it up. Just leave it.'"

When the girls came home, Iglesias' son, Paul, went to look at the guns.

"They were like small handguns to me. They looked like toys, but when I went up close they were actually guns," he said.

Carr confirmed that there was a secondary crime scene a few blocks away from the shooting, but said it was too early to say whether it was linked to the shooting.
