An investigation by the Abbotsford Police Department’s Gang and Drug Unit has ended with 66 charges against a local man.

Const. Ian MacDonald said 10 search warrants were executed by police, resulting in the seizure of $60,000 cash, an arsenal of guns, and more than 1,000 pills containing the dangerous narcotic fentanyl.

“The taking of those thousand pills off the street may end up being as consequential as removing the firearms,” MacDonald said.

The guns include semi-automatic pistols, a sub-machine gun, a sawed-off shotgun, magazines, silencers and ammunition.

But the seizure of pills comes amid an ongoing public health emergency declared over a startling spike in deadly overdoses in B.C. The government said there has been an average of 64 overdose deaths per month so far this year.

An unknown quantity of cocaine was also seized.

The bust, executed last week, took down an alleged dial-a-dope operation with ties to gangs, according to police.

Dozens of charges have since been approved against 28-year-old Corey Jim Perkins, including possession of prohibited weapons, drug trafficking, and possession for the purposes of trafficking.

A woman referred to as Perkins’ associate, Caitlin Rose Bransford, is also charged with drug trafficking and possession of a loaded handgun.

MacDonald said the 26-year-old was found with heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine and fentanyl.
