A 47-year-old man who was allegedly filmed shouting racial taunts in an Abbotsford, B.C. parking lot last month has turned himself in to authorities.
Hope resident Karry Vernon Corbett surrendered to police at Abbotsford provincial court on Friday, two weeks after the shocking and profanity-laden incident, part of which was recorded on cellphone video.
The accused was taken into custody without incident, authorities said.
Charges of assault, uttering threats and causing a disturbance had already been approved against Corbett, who is known to police.
The video showed an enraged man in a mixed-martial arts T-shirt spitting a slew of racist terms at Ravi Duhra, a Canadian lawyer of South Asian descent.
Some of the troubling things the man can be heard yelling include "white power, motherf---er," and "go back to India."
Abbotsford police consulted with B.C.'s hate crime unit in deciding how to proceed with the case.
