In what the RCMP are calling a "sickening case," a 49-year-old Penticton, B.C., man has been accused of prostituting a teenaged girl, and the victim may be his own daughter.
Police are not revealing the relationship between the two, but the man has been charged with being a parent or guardian living off the avails of prostitution and procuring a child under the age of 18 for prohibited sexual activity.
Few other details can be released in order to protect the identity of the girl.
Cpl. Dan Moskaluk calls the case sickening and deplorable and says investigators are now trying to track down a number of men who paid for sex with the girl.
He says considering what she's endured, the girl is showing strength and resiliency and is being helped by the RCMP victim services agency and the Children's Ministry.
The suspect was arrested last Friday after a two-month investigation and will return to court on Aug. 10.
