The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is stepping in after a 15-year-old boy who was assaulted by a group of four to five people overnight died in hospital Saturday morning.
Officers found the victim after getting a report that two teen boys, a 14 and 15 year old, ran to a house in the 15600-block of 18A Avenue after they were allegedly attacked by the group, according to Surrey RCMP.
Police believe the assault may have taken place at nearby Bakerview Park.
The teen had critical injuries and was rushed to Peace Arch Hospital, where he died from his injuries at around 10:20 a.m.
On Saturday, police identified 15-year-old Dario Bartoli as the victim of the fatal assault, and said they are searching for witnesses and those who knew him to gather more information about his murder.
IHIT and Surrey RCMP are also working to determine a motive for the attack and identify all the suspects involved.
Police say RCMP victim services are working with the family of the deceased teen.
The identity and condition of the 14 year old has not been confirmed
