Don't expect any relief from the cold today. Extreme cold weather alerts for London, Niagara and Toronto will remain in effect until Tuesday. An arctic cold front has ushered in some bitterly cold temperatures.

Environment Canada has issued wind chill warnings for northern and southern Ontario, where it could feel as cold as -50 C in some areas. Parts of the northeast U-S are affected as well.

Public health officials are warning everyone to cover up and watch out for frostbite. It only takes ten to twenty minutes to suffer frostbite in these conditions.

Officials are also trying to get the message across that pets get cold too. Their exposure to the elements should be kept to a minimum. The Ontario SPCA is reminding you to bring animals inside in this kind of weather. Keeping your pets inside a car while you do some shopping is not a good idea. The OSPCA said in a release on their website, cars act like refrigerators, and can be dangerous.
