OTTAWA - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has announced the recall of a brand of hot chocolate, warning it could be dangerous for people with allergies to almonds.

The agency said late Friday that the U.S.-made Pelican Bay Ltd. Toffee Fudge hot chocolate contained almonds which are not declared on the label.

It said the product was voluntarily recalled by its distributor.

The affected product was sold in Shoppers Drug Mart stores across Canada in 226-gram packages, bearing UPC number 0 94522 00993 1.

It has an Aug. 30, 2011, expiry date.

The agency says there have been no reported illnesses from the hot chocolate.
