SAN ANTONIO, Tx. - David Van der Gulik scored the decisive goal of the shootout for Abbotsford as the Heat downed the San Antonio Rampage 3-2 in American Hockey League play Saturday.
After Van der Gulik gave Abbotsford a 3-2 lead with the Heat's ninth shot Matt Keetley stopped San Antonio's Andrew Orpik to seal the win.
Cam Cunning and Garth Murray also scored for Abbotsford in the shootout, while Justin Bernhardt and MacGregor Sharp replied for the Rampage.
San Antonio (15-15-4) jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first on power-play goals from Ryan Hollweg and Ryan Weston.
Abbotsford (16-16-5) got on the board at 10:54 of the second when Colin Stuart beat San Antonio netminder Justin Pogge, also on the power play.
The tied Heat the game 2-2 with under a minute to go in the period thanks to Peter Vandermeer's goal at 19:01.
Keetley ended the night with 32 saves, while Pogge turned aside 43 shots.
