Health Canada has issued recalls on several items your child may have received for Christmas.

The eyes and nose on this little orange plush toy can come loose and pose a choking hazard for children. Almost 300 of the little fur balls have been sold in BC and Alberta.

My First Blankie children's sleep sacks have also been determined to pose a choking hazard for babies. The snaps at the shoulder can come loose. Sleep sacks with Velcro fasteners are not affected by the recall.

And the eyes on the horse of this iconic RCMP bear also pose a choking hazard. Over 55,000 of these toys have been sold at souvenir and gift shops since 2003.

No injuries have been reported -- but if you have any of these products in your home you're advised to take them away from your child immediately.

You can link to the Health Canada website for more information.

Contrary to what you might expect -these toys are not tested before they go on sale. It's up to the local importer to make sure items meet Canadian safety standards. Health Canada typically responds to public complaints and then tests products to determine if there is a hazard. So, if you have concerns about any product contact Health Canada.
