'He was done with shopping': Video shows dog laying on horn in B.C. mall parking lot

Malls can be hectic around the holidays, and sometimes you just can't wait to get home – whether you're on two legs or four.

Just ask Crystal, the three-year-old boxer.

The discontented dog took the internet by storm this week after she was caught on camera laying on the horn of her owner's car outside the Chahko Mika Mall in Nelson, a community in B.C.'s Kootenays.

"She looked like she was done with shopping," joked Brenna Boyd, who recorded the video. "There were a bunch of people surrounding the car and they were all laughing."

Boyd said she first heard the horn while heading into the mall's Save-On-Foods on Tuesday evening – and when it was still blaring 10 minutes later on her way out, she decided to investigate.

In her video, Boyd follows the sound across the parking lot until discovering Crystal behind the wheel of a car, with a seemingly annoyed expression on her face.

"Apparently she does this all the time," Boyd laughed. "She's like, 'I have food and toys at home, let's go!'"

Since Boyd does not use social media, her husband posted the video on Facebook, where it has been viewed more than 60,000 times. Dozens of commenters have also weighed in on the dog’s dramatic behaviour, which one summed up as a “total boxer move.”

The breed is known to be expressive, with many boxers having "a mind of their own," particularly when it comes to traditional displays of obedience, according to the American Kennel Club.

Boyd noted that the owner commented on the Facebook post as well, and made clear that the dog was not left in the vehicle for long. Crystal was also wearing a snug jacket at the time.

Some people have suggested Boyd submit the clip to America's Funniest Videos – but for now, she's just happy to see it spread some joy around the holidays.

"It's made a lot of people's day, and that's great," she said.
