The kick-off to the real hockey season is not just resonating with hockey fans but it's also shooting up work place morale.
Of the approximately 300 business managers surveyed by staffing service company OfficeTeam, more than half said the NHL playoffs are playing a positive role in the workplace.
"The atmosphere now is definitely more energetic," said newborn hockey fan Justin Mason who grew up in Rhode Island without a hockey team.
"[My colleagues] are pretty crazy about it. Fanatical might be a word I'd use," he told CTV News.
Seventy-five per cent of the managers asked said Lord Stanley's Cup didn't hinder productivity.
"The Stanley Cup festivities even increased productivity in the office," said OfficeTeam manager Anna Montesano. "Just creating that camaraderie in the office [and] allowing people to have that bond."
But Future Shop sales associate Justin Catt said he has noticed a shift in workplace morale when the Canucks aren't doing well.
"There are a few people who aren't on their game on the sale floor when the Canucks lose," Catt said. "It impacts them too much."
