Servisair says it is ready to lock out its 73 employees at Vancouver International Airport at midnight Friday, but it believes flight disruptions will not occur.

Servisair, which operates as GlobeGround Fuel Service at YVR, says it was forced to issue 72-hour lockout notice because of threats of slowdowns or disruptions by its unionized staff.

A statement from Servisair says a certified team of workers is ready to step in, if the lockout proceeds, ensuring refuelling and other services continue during the dispute.

The company provides jet fuel to Air Canada, WestJet and other airlines at the Vancouver airport.

It has been in negotiations since last year, trying to reach a first contract with the Public Service Alliance of Canada, and two days of talks with a federal conciliator were held earlier this week.

Servisair fuellers and mechanics at YVR voted 93 per cent in favour of a strike to back contract demands ranging from wage increases to retirement benefits.
