Getting to England, France and most of northwestern Europe is almost impossible by air today -- but officials at Vancouver International Airport are keeping the faith.
Despite cancellations of European-bound flights yesterday, departures from YVR to London and Frankfurt are listed for this afternoon and evening.
But all that is expected to change as airspace over northwestern Europe remains clouded by huge plumes of aircraft engine-destroying volcanic ash from an eruption in Iceland.
Officials had hoped to reopen airspace over Paris today but that plan is looking increasingly doubtful, especially as Britain, Norway, Sweden and Denmark continue bans on flights over their countries.
