A man found dead inside a Langley marijuana grow operation was the victim of foul play, homicide investigators said Wednesday.

Langley RCMP were called shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday with a request to check on the well-being of a man who was staying at a home in the 2000-block of 200 Street.

Officers arrived to find a deceased man and an illegal grow-op inside the rural residence.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has taken over the file and is treating the death as a homicide.

"We are in the early stages of the investigation and processing the crime scene in an effort to determine what occurred inside the residence including the motive.” Corporal Adam MacIntosh said in a statement.

The deceased’s identity and the cause of death have not been released.
