A father and son from Mission, B.C., each face multiple drug charges after RCMP seized more than a thousand marijuana plants from two properties in March.
Michael Openshaw, 47, and his son Jesse, 25, were arrested and charged with two counts of production of a controlled substance and possession for the purpose of trafficking after officers conducted a search of a house on the 7900-block of Nelson Street and another on the 9000-block of Clay Street. Inside they found 669 and 691 marijuana plants respectively.
A third man, Chris Crawford, 41, faces similar charges in connection to the Clay Street operation.
Further along in the investigation, the Mission RCMP successfully obtained property restraint orders for both locations and is currently waiting to receive control of both properties once the trio is convicted.
The RCMP says the use of property restraints and forfeiture of homes is a useful tool in scaring off home drug operations.
