Mounties say an assault in a northern B.C. home that killed a woman and seriously injured a man may have been random.
RCMP in Kitimat are trying to establish a motive and the relationship, if any, between a 19-year-old man and the middle-aged victims.
Police have charged the teen with second-degree murder, aggravated assault and break and enter with intent following the incident on Sunday, before 7 a.m.
Cpl. Dan Moskaluk says police located the suspect a short time after being called to the home, where they found the man and woman who had been attacked.
The man is listed in stable condition after undergoing surgery, but the woman died late Sunday.
The victims' names are not being released, while the suspect is scheduled to appear in a provincial court in Terrace, B.C. on Tuesday.
