A 72-year-old woman is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after being struck by an alleged hit-and-run driver on Christmas morning.
Vancouver police say she was hit while crossing the street at East 57th Avenue and Ross Street at around 11 a.m. The driver drove off without stopping.
Const. Jana McGuinness said police and paramedics found the woman in the roadway suffering "very serious injuries." She was rushed to hospital where she is listed in critical condition.
Police are appealing to the driver or anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.
The suspect vehicle is described as an older model, silver, four-door Honda Accord. Police are combing the surrounding neighbourhoods for any sign of the vehicle and have notified the Burnaby, Surrey and Richmond RCMP detachments with its description.
