North Vancouver RCMP needed everything from satellites to pedal power as they busted a marijuana grow operation hidden deep in the heart of Mount Seymour, on Vancouver's North Shore.

The grow op was spotted last week by a passing helicopter and RCMP used high tech measures ranging from global positioning to aerial photography as they pinpointed the stash.

But high tech gave way to brute force on Tuesday as members of the Mountie's bike section hiked up the side of the mountain and bushwacked their way to the remote site.

That's where officers got their first close look at what they are calling an elaborate grow op, complete with more than a kilometer of gravity fed hose and electronic timers, set to water 300 fully grown pot plants.

Police say no one was working on the felonious farm when they arrived so they hacked down the plants - some more than two metres tall - and hauled away the pot, hoses, chemicals and garbage.

North Vancouver RCMP say it's the largest grow operation ever handled by the detachment's bike section and the team is now checking if any other mountainside plantations are flourishing nearby.
