What if there was a single remote that could control your TV, DVD player, and PVR?

There is an electronic device that claims to do just that. But does the Harmony One deliver?

Most of us have a basket full of remotes to run our various electronic devices. Nanci Farrell had five remotes on her end table, and only her husband knew how to run them.

"But when he would go away for a weekend or be away at work I'd have to phone him long distance and ask how do I get this movie on which is pretty embarrassing but it's just so confusing to have three or four devices at a time and try to make them all work," she explains.

Nanci came home recently and her husband presented her with the Logitech Harmony One remote.

"I walked in the door and he handed it to me. On went the TV, on went the DVD --it is so user friendly," she remembers.

The Harmony One boasts a full-color touch screen, intuitive button layout, and an ergonomic design.

It's also rechargeable. So no more looking for batteries.

To program it -simply plug it into your home computer -and log onto the online database. Then choose from the growing list of more than 225,000 devices from more than 5,000 brands. Then point it at the screen and get comfortable.

Nanci says she can now watch TV, record a program on the PVR, or watch a DVD. She thinks the Harmony One is one of the best gifts her husband has ever given her.

"I have gone from five down to one and one that is completely simple. Instead of five that are completely complicated. It's a little bit of heaven!"

The Harmony One isn't cheap. It costs about $300 but you might think it's the best audio visual money you've ever spent.
