Richmond Mounties are urging drivers to take the time to clear the snow from their vehicles to help keep roads safe during a sudden blast of winter weather.
In a message posted on Twitter, RCMP issued the plea "for safety's sake."
They posted a photo of a car covered in several centimetres of snow, with only the side windows cleared off. The driver failed to clear off the roof and even the back windshield was covered.
They also posted part of the ticket the driver was issued – a fine for $109 under section 7.05(2) of the Motor Vehicle Act.
Cpl. Dennis Hwang told CTV News the snowy vehicle was spotted around 10 a.m. Monday at No. 3 Road and Westminster Highway.
"That is only one example. There have been others," he said.
"There is no excuse for not taking the time to clear your vision. It is for your safety and for everyone around you."
