B.C. Premier Christy Clark will seek the Liberal nomination to run in former premier Gordon Campbell's riding of Vancouver-Point Grey, but a date for the vote has not been set.

The BC Liberal Party announced Monday that as expected, Clark has gone through the necessary formalities to declare her candidacy for the nomination in the riding and the byelection will be called by Sept. 15.

Clark has always said she wants to call a byelection as soon as possible because she wants to get a seat inside the B.C. legislature.

The legislature will resume sitting on April 27.

The electoral calendar in British Columbia is becoming crowded, with a May 2 federal vote and a mail-in referendum on the harmonized sales tax scheduled to start June 13 and end with results announced in August.

Clark was elected BC Liberal leader and premier on February 26.
