A young man has been charged in the stabbing death of a 63-year-old in Surrey last month.
One count of manslaughter was approved Wednesday against Dylan Robert Dempsey, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said.
The 22-year-old has a criminal record dating back to 2007, according to police.
The charge comes almost a month after the killing of Donald Williams Deweyn, who was found fatally wounded on a busy street in the early morning hours of July 25.
Deweyn was taken to hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
IHIT spokeswoman Sgt. Jennifer Pound said the investigation into the homicide ongoing.
“Although an arrest has been made, IHIT will continue to aggressively investigate this homicide as we believe there are persons of interest who have information that have yet to come forward,” Pound said in a statement.
