Police have identified the 30-year-old St. Catharines, Ontario man who died after falling from the Capilano Suspension Bridge in North Vancouver on Saturday.
The man, whose name has not been released at the family's request, was on vacation in the area with relatives, police said in a press release.
The RCMP arrived at the scene around 5:50 p.m. after the hiker fell approximately 60 metres (200 feet) to his death. They found the victim lying motionless on the canyon rocks along the river.
Investigators think the man may have jumped over the railing in search of a dropped debit or credit card when he fell to his death. Police are now reviewing security video to find out exactly what happened.
The park re-opened Sunday morning and counsellors are speaking with employees who may have been traumatized by the tragic death.
