The Vancouver Canucks will retire former captain Markus Naslund's number 19 jersey at a ceremony on December 11.
The news was announced at the team's summer summit at the newly renamed Rogers Arena Wednesday night.
Also new for the home team is a slight tweak to the on-ice look
To celebrate the team's 40th season, the ‘Nucks will wear replicas of the original white stick-in-rink jerseys from the team's inaugural year for five games. The 2010-11 season jerseys will also feature a 40th-anniversary shoulder patch.
Two of the team's newest players, centre Manny Malhotra and defender Dan Hamhuis, were also on hand to greet Vancouver fans for the first time.
The summit was attended by 2,000 invited season-ticket holders.
