Ready, set, suck.
It's a contest unlike any other -- mom and baby teaming up to see how many children can nurse at the same time.
A record 239 Victoria, B.C. moms joined the worldwide Breastfeeding Challenge -- a global event trying to set a record for nursing. More than 353 cities in 17 countries took part in today's first-ever challenge.
Canada had the highest turnout, with over 3,000 babies taking part in 122 sites.
Organizers hope the event encourages mothers to feed their babies naturally and put down the bottle.
"Breastfeeding is here and it's a normal thing and a healthy choice and a commitment that we make not only to our families but to the community and the environment," says organizer Julie McCracken.
"Breastfeeding is environmentally friendly -- always has been. (It) leaves no carbon footprint... there's so many great reasons to breast feed."
Research suggests babies who are breast fed are also have fewer health problems, maintain a healthy weight and bond with the mother faster.
