A B.C. pit bull nearly burned alive near Trail almost four months ago is ready for a new home.
Tigger suffered third-degree burns to most of his body, and lost most of one ear, after being doused with gasoline and set ablaze in a remote area in June.
"It was one of the most despicable cases of animal cruelty I've ever seen," says the SPCA's Marcia Moriarity.
The young pitbull has been at the SPCA since the incident, and has undergone multiple treatments for his injuries. Tigger still wears bandages on his legs to cover the massive burns, and is missing most of the fur on his back.
Despite that, SPCA officials say the young dog is a favourite at the clinic.
"To go through that and come out with the same disposition is incredible," says Moriarity. "I don't know many dogs - let alone people - who would still be such a darling."
Officials are looking for someone who is familiar with the breed to adopt Tigger.
They also hope to find someone who can dedicate a considerable amount of time to help the dog's recovery, as he still requires frequent trips to the vet.
"He just needs a fireplace to curl up in front of, and to go on walks with someone," says Moriarity. "He just really needs to find a great home."
