Police are asking for the public’s help locating a 22-year-old British tourist who disappeared during a trip to Vancouver last week.

Thomas Billings was last seen in the 1400-block of East Broadway the morning of Nov. 25, days before he was expected to head south to the U.S.

Const. Brian Montague said the young man hasn't spoken with friends and family since, and the disappearance is completely out of character for him.

"He left some of his belongings in the accomodation where he was staying, and of course we're extremely concerned about his well-being," Montague said. "Our concern right now is that he's run into some trouble."

Prior to his disappearance, the young man, who is described as a seasoned traveler and an avid hiker, discussed various place in the Lower Mainland he wanted to visit and hike, including the North Shore Mountains.

Billings was scheduled to enter the U.S. on Nov. 30 then fly home to England on Dec. 7.

He is described as white, 5-7 tall, 160 lbs. with blonde short hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a black jacket and grey military-style pants.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact police.
