A body was found early Wednesday in a burned-out vehicle in Langley, B.C.

The vehicle was found on fire at about 1:45 a.m. on railway tracks north of 96th Avenue, just west of 208th Street, police said.

The body was so badly burned, investigators could not immediately determine if the victim was a man or woman.

The case is being treated as a homicide.

Cpl. Dale Carr of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team told CTV News that investigators do not know how the car ended up on the tracks, but it was not hit by a train.

Police have met with the registered owner of the car, Carr said in a press release.

Anyone with information is asked to call 1-877-551-IHIT or CRIMESTOPPERS at 1-800-222-TIPS.
