Getting to and from Vancouver Island this weekend could be very difficult, if you plan to take a ferry.
At 6:00 p.m. Friday, there was a three-sailing wait from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay, and a two-sailing wait from Swartz Bay.
The Spirit of BC is out of service for repairs after a propeller broke Thursday, turning the 90-minute ride into a four-hour journey.
With only three out of four sailings going ahead, it's not good news as a key transportation service heads into a summer weekend.
"There is no reason why they couldn't have a spare ferry,'' said one angry passenger as he waited in line at the Tsawwassen docks on Friday evening.
On Friday evening, BC Ferries said it was adding some extra late-night sailings on the busy Swartz Bay and Tsawwassen route.
Ferry spokeswoman Deborah Marshall says they're hoping the problem will be fixed by Monday, though there are no guarantees.
