It's a sure sign that winter is on it's way. British Columbia's Coquihalla Highway was shut down Monday night for the first time this year.

Compact snow made for slushy and slippery conditions on a 55 kilometre stretch between Hope and Merritt . Trucks jack-knifed, blocking the road so other vehicles couldn't get through. Ministry of Highways staff say no one was hurt and the road had was scheduled to reopen by 10.30 p.m..
