The B.C. Federation of Students has won its free speech fight in Canada's highest court.
The Supreme Court of Canada ruled unanimously in favour of the students after TransLink appealed a B.C. Supreme Court ruling from November of 2006.
That ruling found BC Transit and TransLink violated the Charter of Rights when they refused to carry political ads on buses and SkyTrains.
The dispute dates to 2004, when the federation wanted to buy bus ads urging young people to get out and vote but TransLink rejected the "Rock the Vote" campaign ads as too political.
