A judge in British Columbia says a Mountie who used his Taser during an altercation at a pub in 100 Mile House didn't use excessive force, but also didn't have grounds to arrest the man in the first place.

It was for that reason that judge found Constable Dan Cameron guilty of assault.

Cameron and two other officers were called to a pub on Highway 97, and arrested the man who was hit with the stun gun.

The RCMP says Cameron remains on active duty until the outcome of next month's sentencing hearing and an internal disciplinary hearing.
