The ski and snowboard season may have just begun, but there’s already an avalanche warning for B.C.’s back country.
The Canadian Avalanche Centre is warning of very dangerous avalanche conditions throughout the Sea-to-Sky Corridor, and is urging the public to avoid the back country while the risk is high.
The warning comes as a big weather system is expected to dump anywhere from 60 to 100 centimetres of snow in the area.
A “high danger” rating has been issued at the alpine level and a “considerable danger” rating has been issued for the treeline.
According to the Canadian Avalanche Centre, 10 people died in B.C. avalanches last year.
