A former Vancouver police officer accused of dealing drugs on and off duty has been granted $65,000 bail and will be released from prison this afternoon.

Former police constable Peter Hodson has been charged with trafficking drugs, two counts of breach of trust -- one for selling drugs and the other for illegal use of a police database -- and break and enter with the intent to commit extortion.

Hodson was granted bail in Vancouver provincial court during an appearance Wednesday morning. He is set to be released from Surrey Pretrial Services Centre later in the afternoon.

Hodson's bail is conditional on 16 requirements, including a curfew and a requirement that he not consume alcohol outside of his White Rock home.
