A unique centre investigating both psychiatric and neurological brain disorders will be built at the University of B.C.

Premier Gordon Campbell has committed $25-million in provincial cash for the facility.

Officials with Vancouver Coastal Health say the Centre for Brain Health will offer one-stop access for patients needing neurological or psychiatric services.

They say by linking research with patient care, discoveries and treatments can be brought to the bedside as quickly as possible.

The new centre will treat patients with neurological disorders, such as Alzheimers, as well as those with psychiatric problems, the release said.
