At least one person is dead after a dump truck lost its brakes and hit a car in New Westminster on Tuesday afternoon.
New Wesminster police say that Holmes Street at East Columbia Street will remain shut down to traffic as collision analysts conduct their on-scene investigation.
Images captured from CTV's Chopper 9 show the commercial vehicle at the bottom of an embankment and the car lodged halfway down the slope.
Emergency workers were seen trying to pull the doors off of the mangled car, before draping a large tarp over it.
The intersection was expected to be closed until the evening as police gather evidence.
