The holiday season in Vancouver is set to become merry and bright with the opening of the world's largest Christmas light maze.
Opening in the flats between the Cambie Street Bridge and Olympic Village, Enchanted is made up of more than 55,000-square-feet of illuminated holiday-themed sculptures.
The maze was created with seven distinct "worlds" that bring a Christmas story to life. After the North Pole is hit by a huge snowstorm right before Christmas, visitors must search the maze to find the missing reindeer and save Christmas.
The festive maze, which takes about 20 to 30 minutes to complete, features a 64-foot tall tree illuminated with more than 85,000 LED lights, a forest of 20-foot tall LED trees, stairs, caves, tunnels and ice crystals.
And, spoiler alert: Santa may or may not make an appearance.
The family-friendly event also features a market with 50 local vendors selling Christmas merchandise.
Fourteen food trucks will be on hand, and there's a licensed-bar area where guests can imbibe a boozy holiday drink, like mulled wine and specialty coffees. A community fire pit keeps the False Creek waterfront venue cozy.
This isn't the first lighting extravaganza for SHINE, the Vancouver company behind the event.
In 2015 it created the magical "Light Walk" at the top of Grouse Mountain, a lit up canopy winding its way around Blue Grouse Lake.
Enchant runs from Nov. 25th until New Year's Eve.
Tickets for the holiday season can be pre-purchased online. A day pass to Enchant starts at $14.95 for children, and up to $59.95 for families.
