One man was killed in a shooting involving police in Kamloops, B.C., Friday night.

The black SUV he was driving crashed into the So Espresso and Bistro on Tranquille Road near Royal Avenue, and was parked with its front end inside the cafe as investigators examined the scene.

At a press conference, Kamloops RCMP Const. Cheryl Bush said that two officers were involved in the shooting, but would not reveal any more details. Police have shut down a several blocks surrounding the scene, and were canvassing for witnesses.

Bush said that an independent investigator has been called in.
