New video has surfaced of the rare cream-coloured bear cub living near the resort community of Whistler, B.C.
The footage, which was posted online last week, shows the unique cub biting and grappling with its very patient mother for a few minutes on a green slope.
It ends with the cub climbing triumphantly onto the exhausted-looking sow’s back.
The young bear was first spotted last month, and animal biologists have been working to confirm its genetic makeup ever since.
Experts believe the roughly six-month-old bear is an albino, and not a Kermode bear.
Kermodes, or spirit bears, are famous for their strikingly light coats, but they also have black noses, unlike the Whistler cub.
Visitors in the area are urged not to approach the cub, whose life would be at significantly greater risk if it becomes habituated to humans.
Conservation officers said people intent on seeing the bear can arrange for a guided tour instead.
