South Surrey residents were jolted from their sleep early Saturday morning after bullets were fired into a home with people inside.

Mounties say someone opened fired on a home in the 1700-block of King George Boulevard around 3:30 a.m.

Several people were inside the house, but no one was injured.

Neighbours say they flew out of bed when they heard the gunshots, which sounded “like explosions.”

“It was bang bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, like seven of them,” said Steve Stewart, who lives in the area.

There have been 38 gunfire-related incidents so far this year - three of them this week alone. In one of the incidents a man was shot, but survived.

Witnesses say police were called to the area just hours earlier when a brawl broke out at the same house party.

Neighbours say a car was being driven erratically, smashing repeatedly into a gate.

An investigation is ongoing, and no one has been arrested.

Anyone with further information who has not already spoken to police is asked to contact Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502
