An overwhelming number of cats in SPCA shelters across the province has prompted the agency to offer a unique promotion to help them get forever homes.
The agency is offering adult cat adoptions for half price from June 26 to 28 to encourage cat-loving British Columbians to check out the felines in their care.
There are currently more than 700 adult cats looking for homes in B.C.
“Adult cats need homes just as much as cute little kittens need homes, and kittens are always adopted quickly,” BC SPCA director of regional operations Jane Talbot said.
“Adult felines have a lot of love to give, and we’re hoping this promotion will encourage anyone who has been considering adoption to take the next step.”
The adult cats are available for $75, and are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, have permanent ID and have been medically treated for any potential parasites.
While kittens are cute and cuddly, Talbot says adult cats have some major perks: they’re more settled, housetrained and you already know how big they’ll get.
“The best reason to adopt an adult, however, is because they deserve it,” she said.
Each year the agency takes in around 15,000 cats and kittens across the province.
To adopt, visit your local SPCA or go online to search for adoptable pets.
