Two men have been charged in a deadly drive-by shooting that shook the quiet lakeside community of Blind Bay three years ago.

Nick Larsen, 24, was riding in a friend’s car when another vehicle forced them off the road around midnight on June 1, 2011. Someone in the attacking vehicle then opened fire, riddling the car with bullets and hitting Larsen several times, according to RCMP.

He died of his injuries shortly after on a friend’s nearby property.

“The small community of Blind Bay was shocked by this incident in what is normally a quiet and peaceful resort community,” Mounties said in a statement. “Nick is from a family which has been long-time residents of the nearby community of Sorrento.”

Investigators believe the killing was targeted, and followed a dispute between two groups of men that took place hours earlier in Sorrento, a town located about 30 kilometres north of Salmon Arm.

Last week, RCMP arrested Jeremy Wayne Davis, 24, in Williams Lake and Jordan Larry Barnes, 27, in Kelowna in connection with Larsen’s death.

Both men have been charged with second-degree murder and are scheduled to appear in court Monday.
