A 25-year-old Vancouver woman has turned herself in to police in connection to a fatal hit and run incident on Commercial Drive, Sunday night. Police questioned her and released her without charge.
Witnesses say a woman was driving a blue Ford Explorer when the vehicle struck an elderly couple in a crosswalk.
The woman apparently waited for roughly 20 minutes at the scene, but left by foot before police arrived.
Sixty-four-year-old Dennis Bird was hit so hard he ended up half-way down the street. He later died in hospital.
His wife Madeline is expected to survive.
Laurel Kennedy, a spokesperson for the Vancouver Police Department, said charges have not been laid at this time, pending further investigation.
