According to a release issued by the BC Highway Patrol Tuesday, the collision occurred just after 7:30 p.m. on Highway 3/95 near Stropky Road on Dec. 26, Boxing Day.

The woman who died, identified only as a Grand Forks resident, was a pasenger in a Honda CRV that crashed head-on with a Cadillac Escalade. The CRV driver and two passengers in the Escalade were also seriously hurt, authorities said.

Speed and impairment are still to be ruled out as factors of the crash, and the investigation remains ongoing, said police.

“This was the second fatal collision in less than a week in the winter conditions near Cranbrook. Please everyone, slow down and make sure you are driving sober and without any distractions.”
