Two of Canada's big winemakers -- Andrew Peller Ltd. and Vincor Canada -- have announced plans to change their labels to make it clearer to consumers when they're buying imported wine.
"We want to add additional information because our goal is always to have been totally transparent and honest," said John Peller of Andrew Peller Ltd.
CTV News has also learned that B.C.-based Mark Anthony Group has similar plans.
Until now, the companies have attached labels on their imported bulk wine that simply say "cellared in Canada."
Rich Coleman, the minister responsible for B.C. liquor stores, is also pushing to make sure stores aren't misleading consumers either.
"Most of the wine industry has said now that they will adjust their labeling, and we'll look at how we're going to place it in the stores a bit differently to take care of our consumers," he said.
Wine expert Jim Martin said he's surprised at the swift response.
"I'm surprised it happened so fast, and I'm really glad that the consumer stood up and took notice," he said.
Vincor, an official wine supplier for the 2010 Olympic Games, adds that all of its Olympic wines will be made with 100-percent B.C. grapes.
