A park synonymous with summers in Metro Vancouver will be closing its doors at the end of the season.
Splashdown Park announced that this summer will be its last, after three decades years of splashing and sliding.
The park has been a popular destination since the 1980s for families trying to escape the heat and teenagers looking for summer jobs.
"We've even had people that worked here get married, then their kids worked here," manager Harold Frederiks told CTV News on Wednesday.
The Tsawwassen water park was even featured in a music video by American rockers blink-182 in 2001.
But the park has announced that this summer will be its swan song, with its lease expiring when the season wraps.
On Facebook, representatives of the park wrote that the land's owners have new plans for the space, though they did not say what will be built in its place.
"We're sad to go but we still have all summer to have a blast!" a comment from the park reads.
Commenters questioned what will happen to the park's equipment, but park officials wrote that nothing has been decided yet.
The park is across the street from the new Tsawwassen Mills shopping centre, set to open in the fall, which was developed by the Tsawwassen First Nation.
The park's property is owned by an individual band member, not the First Nation, but the council will have to approve any rezoning or development plans. A spokesperson said the council has yet to receive any proposals.
The park opens Saturday, June 4, and will shut its gates in September.
