The suspect in a number of violent robberies in Surrey -- including an attempted murder -- has been arrested in an apartment building.
Surrey RCMP says 21-year-old Shane Gidon was taken into custody this morning. He is the prime suspect in six armed robberies which took place over two days in mid November.
In one of the hold ups, two men working at a gas station were shot in the stomach. A few days after the shooting, four Surrey businesses were also hit by armed robberies.
Police have been looking for Gidon since the end of last month.
Three other men and four women were also arrested this morning with Gidon -- all were previously known to police. A machine gun was discovered at the scene, police confirmed.
Giddon will be appearing in Surrey Provincial Court charged with two counts of attempted murder pertaining to the gas station robbery.
