Golf lovers, mark your calendars.

The stars of the LPGA Tour are headed to the West Coast in 2012 as the Vancouver Golf Club has been awarded the CN Canadian Women's Open.

The event is scheduled to be held Aug. 20-26 at the course in Coquitlam, which has not seen the world's best since Nancy Scranton won the du Maurier Classic in 1991.

"We know we can put on a great event. We've got a fantastic golf club," says Brent Gough, General Manager of the Vancouver Golf Club. "The course is in absolutely beautiful condition and we know that the LPGA players are going to have their hands full with this."

The Tour visit also marks the first visit to the Vancouver-area since the Point Grey Golf and Country club played host to the LPGA stop in 2003.

The St. Charles Country Club in Winnipeg played host to this year's CN Canadian Women's Open which Michelle Wie won this past weekend. The 2011 event will be held at the Hillsdale Golf and Country Club just outside of Montreal.

The PGA Tour will also grace the Vancouver-area in 2011 as the Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club is scheduled to host the RBC Canadian Men's Open Championship in late July.
