A three-year-old Lake Cowichan girl is dead after a crash near Duncan, B.C. that also injured her mother and two young siblings.
Police say just before 3 p.m. Saturday, a minivan carrying the family went sliding off a curve in the road, sheared off a power pole and landed in a ditch.
The youngest child died of her injuries, while the five- and seven-year-old -- along with their 27-year-old mother -- were in stable condition in hospital.
Police haven't said what caused the crash, but are looking at speed and wet road conditions as possible factors.
In a separate collision in Campbell River late Friday, a 31-year-old passenger from North Vancouver was killed after a crash that trapped him in the car.
RCMP say early findings suggest speed and alcohol contributed to the crash.
