A 16-year-old girl is in critical condition after being hit by a car in North Vancouver Sunday night, according to authorities, who are seeking witnesses and dash-cam video in the investigation.

Officers were called to the scene near the intersection of Capilano and Paisley roads around 5:30 p.m., the North Vancouver RCMP said in a news release.

"It's alleged that a white Jeep was travelling south on Capilano Road when a pedestrian entered the roadway and was struck. The pedestrian was taken to the hospital, where they remain," the statement said.

The driver remained at the scene and impairment is not believed to have been a factor, Mounties said, adding the investigation into the cause is ongoing.

Anyone with information or video is urged to call 604-985-1311 and reference file 24-25577.
